Though we can readily find a great deal of insightful writing about hypertext, a number of dubious and mistaken opinions appear time and again. Some are misunderstandings, others substitute the writer's assumptions (or fears) for actual observation.

  • We Just Need 3D (an anticipate technological development will solve our artistic problems)
  • Kids Today (links distract young readers whose attention span has been ruined by TV)
  • It's Like TV! (the problem with books is that kids today only want images)
  • It's boring and experimental and difficult!
  • It's just choose your own adventure
  • The codex book is already perfect

ToDo: pick a topic and create a page, giving examples. Where possible, explain the critic's argument with sympathy.
